Three horses racing last Friday. posted on 05/07/2015Hello from J.Vassallo Stables,
Last fridayy Lemon,Haski and Emidso all went down to the track to race on the 32nd meeting of the season. All three of them raced in 2140m races in a hot evening down at Marsa.
First out was Lemon, he had a front number behind the gate and I was a little bit cautious with him in the beginning of the race but managed to gain a good position behind the leader. An attack came immediately from the hot favourite of the race and the pace was very fast in the first 600m. I decided to let Lemon go with a controlled pace but still didn't lose any positions. With 800m left, the pace increased even more by then Lemon still followed. In the final curve I took Lemon out to find some space but Lemon was left with no energy and finished in a poor 11th place, even if the time of the race for Lemon wasn't bad.
Haski was up next, he had a back number behind the gate and as always Jason was cautious with him in the beggining. Haski was running inside all the time and kept up with the pace. Going in the last 1200m the pace increased due to an attack by one of the favourites in the race. Jason found some space inside and Haski responded well. In the final curve Haski advanced some positions and finished the race in a respectful 7th place. Jason was pleased with Haski and said that the horse was strong in every part of the race.
Emidso raced in the 8th race of the meeting and had a good number 4 behind the gate. Jason went for the lead from the start but didn't succeed in doing so and ended in the dead seat. The pace was quick and Jason decided to pull back a little bit and wait for cover. A horse quicky came from the outside but went for the lead immediately and Emidso ended again in the dead seat. Emidso was still running strong even though he had a bad position. Finally with 800m to go a horse came and gave Emidso cover, by then the pace was hotting up and with 500m to go unfortunetaly the horse covering Emidso galloped and Jason found no place and had to pull to find a place out. Jason took Emidso three-wide and pushed until the finish. Emidso is a courageus horse and finished the race in a very good 4th place. Emidso showed great power and even he had a very though race he managed to get a very good place in a respectful time of 1,17,7
That's all for today,
Goodbye.
Sandrone finishing in 3rd place. posted on 29/06/2015Hello from J.Vassallo Stables,
Last friday Sandrone raced in the 31st meeting of the season. Sandrone had a front number behind the gate.
Jason pushed for the lead in the early stages and managed to gain the lead of the race after around 400m spending some energy to do so but eventually managed and got what he was looking for. Immediately an attack came and Jason didn't want to spend more of the horse's energy so he decided to let go. The driver of the horse in the lead called Jason to take it back and so he did. The pace now slowed down after a quick tempo in the first 800m. Sandrone was now in the lead and Jason controlled the pace of the race, with 700m left Jason decided to start pushing Sandrone and the plan was working because Sandrone entered the final straight in the lead. Unfortunately Sandrone didn't have the energy required to finish the race in the lead and two horses beat him in the last 50m.
Sandrone finished in 3rd place which is a satisfying result considering it's been a while since he raced. In the final stages of the race everyone thought he would have won but this didn't happen.
That's all for tonight,
Wishing you all a nice evening. Bad performances posted on 22/06/2015Hello from J.Vassallo Stables.
Last Friday evening, Lemon and Baron went down to the track to race in the 30th meeting of the season. Emidso was due to race aswell but unfortunately Jason had to scratch him from the race. Emidso woke up with fever on Friday morning and the race for him was called off. This was a pity for Emidso because he was looking bang on form and with a very good number behind the gate, bad luck.
Lemon was out first and he had a back number behind the gate. The horse infront of Lemon gallopped immediately and I had to hold him and find a gap. Lemon was with the bunch after a few metres and he did not loose much. The pace was quite slow and Lemon kept up with ease. I managed to find some space inside and Lemon responded and looked really good. The pattern of the race continued without changes and with 600 metres left to the finish I looked for a space outside and managed to get it with 300 metres left. I pushed Lemon in the final straight but this time Lemon did not respond. He kept going with the same speed and in the final 50 metres he gave up. Lemon finished in 8th place. This is quite unusual with Lemon since normally with a good trip he goes to sprint up to the end but it was not this time. He will be checked to see if something is wrong with him.
Baron was out next, he had number 5 behind the gate. Jason decided to go for the lead from the start, something which he managed immediately. After a few metres Jason decided to let go. The pace was quick and Jason decided not to follow the leader since he went for a very fast pace from the early stages. Baron was running in 2nd place but was struggling to keep up. The horses at the back started to push infront to keep up with the leader. Baron was still holding a good place with the front runners but with 700 metres left he gave up and gallopped. The race was now finished for our stallion.
That's all for tonight, wish you all a nice evening.

J.VASSALLO STABLES A good race by Haski but with a bitter end posted on 15/06/2015Hello from J. Vassallo Stables.
Last Friday Jason took Haski to the track to race in the 29th meeting of the season. Last Friday's meeting was the start of the summer championships.
Haski had number 1 behind the gate and Jason as usual held him in the early stages. Even if Jason took Haski easy, he managed to place him 3rd inside which was quite a good position for Haski. The lead started to change and Haski was dropped in the inside lane but kept the pace with ease. The pace started to increase and now Jason was trying to find gaps to take Haski out but remained inside and the race opened up. In the final straight Jaosn asked for more from Haski who managed to finish in 5th place. Unfortunately Haski was disqualified for hooking in the last 200 metres of the race.
Again, like Lemon, a week before this issue of hooking is going out of hand. Jason, now a very experienced driver, saw nothing wrong in the trotting and could not understand why Haski was disqualified. During the race the judges kept calling a particular driver to keep his horse in good trott but he was not disqualifed. Nobody saw anything wrong but still there is nothing to do. The judges decide and it's final, no matter if itrs right or wrong you have to accept the decision. The problem is as I said in my last blogg, there is no patter to how the judges decide. I am quite sure even the judges themselves have problems taking decisions.Something has to be done to address this problem.
Sandrone was also due to race last Friday but unfortunately he had to be scrathced before the race due to unforseen circumstances.
That's all for tonight, wish you all a nice meeting.

In the saddle sat monté star Matthieu Abrivard. The upload could start better then it was several restarts.
When the race went well Quarcio du Chene came on inside and ended up third last.
The horse advanced and was in fifth externally after 1000 meters. Matthieu Abrivard turned out in the third lane with about 700 meters left and ran quickly past many of its competitors. But the last bit was too hard for Quarcio and he finally ended fourth in the race.
The rider Matthieu Abrivard was very happy with the horse and would like to continue to ride him.
- The horse was much better today than when I rode him in the job last Saturday. He got a little heated after reboot limits and therefore I had to move a bit too early. If Quarcio du Chene been a little calmer, I think he was second in the race, "said Matthieu Abrivard to Travnet.

You are always Welcome guys. Åke Svanstedt posted on 30/09/2010I am happy to say that Åke Svanstedt was cleared on all charges in the case of giving electric shocks to horses in training. The judges voted 5/0 on not guilty. A very important thing for the clearing was the visit to the farm were the witnesses could not see if the person that was driving the horse held something in their hand or not, from a distance they had claimed they had seen it!!!!! Which was the actual accusation from the beginning from a "reliable" witness.
Now I am happy Åke was cleared but the sad part is that the trotting sport and its credibility has been badly damaged in the public's eyes. I really hope that the media will be a bit more resonable following up news like this the next time and won't start a witch hunt relying their facts on rumours and from people seeking revenge for being rejected. The every day reader that has not clue of how the training of horses and the trotting works will just believe in these tabloid stories. Lisa Amerika posted on 18/09/2010 Today at Åby Stora Pris it was the italion mare that gave a wonderfull show in both races espiecialy in the second heat when Lisa was in the death position and with does horses she sprinted up in the last 200 meters and clocked 10'1.
When they interwiew the trainer and he was questioned that why he think that Lisa liked Sweden he answered that every body like Sweden because its the best tracks and the races are in the spirit of sport and i agree whit him 100 percent.
